Robusta coffee futures traded cautiously while the Arabica coffee market in New York closed the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
At the beginning of the week, Robusta coffee price in March rose $ 1 / ton to reach $ 1,729 / ton, fluctuating within $ 10 (1,723-1,733).
The latest COT report from the Arabica coffee market in New York shows that the non-market speculation unit dropped 12.39% in net short position during the trading week to day. 09/01/2018, registered a net short position 42,828 lots, equivalent to 12,141,548 bags.
The latest Commodity Trader Report from London's Robusta Coffee Market indicates that the non-market speculation unit has decreased 1.16% net short position in the week to Jan. 9, 2018, registered a net short position of 26,575 lots, equivalent to 4,429,167 bags.
The General Statistics Office of Vietnam reported December coffee exports increased 57.6% over the previous month, reaching more than 2.63 million bags. Coffee exports in Vietnam have increased sharply, indicating that the coffee crop to be completed is likely to reach a high level with the expectation that the volume of exports to consumer markets will increase in the coming months.
The GSO report also said Vietnam's coffee exports in 2017 decreased 19% from the previous year to nearly 24 million bags. However, the coffee export turnover decreased only 2.7%, reaching nearly 3.24 billion USD.
Arabica coffee stockpile certified by ICE Futures US in New York dropped by 250 bags on January 12, 1818, registered inventory of 20053,320 bags.
